Urban Renewal and Its Impact

January 26, 2018

Guests: Patrick Bahls, professor at the University of North Carolina Asheville; UNCA student Laura Browne.

There are differing opinions on the impact of urban renewal on urban communities. Supporters call it an economic benefit. Detractors call it a means of control, causing the abolition of entire neighborhoods.

We also talk about the Prison Story Project and Michelle Alexander’s work - The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness.
