Guest: Jenny Brown, author of Birth Strike: The Hidden Fight Over Women's Work
Little known to most of us, there is a struggle going on over women’s reproductive labor. One side, elite policymakers, want an expanding workforce reared with a minimum of cost to employers. The other side, women, are refusing to produce children at levels desired and needed by economic planners. With little access to childcare, family leave, health care, and insufficient support, U.S. women are conducting a spontaneous birth strike - a strike with important implications for our ongoing economic system.
